| Palmistry - What
your palm says about you |
Palmistry, or the art of hand reading, has probably
been around since the Stone
Age. There is evidence of
the existence of palmistry
through the ages: from the
number of hands painted in
prehistoric caves, to writings
on the principles and practice
of hand reading found in Vedic
scripts, to the Bible and
early Semitic writings, down
to today, where 'professional'
palm-readers can be found
everywhere.
The original intent of palmistry
was as a tool of personality
assessment and counseling.
The link between the mind
and the body was recognised
and the lines of the hand
were thought to reflect a
person's emotional tendencies,
social attitudes, conscious
and subconscious fears and
strengths.
If our thinking, behaviour
and attitudes change, the
lines will reflect the changes
as well.
It is thought that by understanding
the meaning of the lines and
the patterns of change in
our thinking and behaviour,
we can actually learn more
about ourselves, avoid negative
behaviour and shape our own
destiny. |

Which Hand To Read
Most people are unsure about
which hand to read in palmistry.
It is actually important to
look at both hands, giving
priority to the active hand,
the one we usually write with,
in combination with the passive
hand. The passive hand shows
where you have been, while
the active one shows where
you are likely to head. |

Cheiromancy & Cheirognomy
Palmistry is usually divided
into two sections, Cheiromancy,
the science of reading the
actions and habits, the past,
present and future events
from the formation of the
palm and the marks thereon
and Cheirognomy, or the art
of reading character from
the shape of the hand and
fingers. |
| |
Cheiromancy
The chief lines of the hand
are the Life Line, Head Line
and the Heart Line. Other major
lines include the Line of Fate
or Saturn Line, Line of Apollo
or Sun Line. The minor lines
are Girdle of Venus, Line of
Health, Line of Intuition, Line
of Mars, Line of Affection,
Influence Lines and Rascettes
or Bracelets. |
| |
Cheirognomy
The shape of the hand can
be divided into seven types:
Square, Elementary, Conic,
Spatulate, Philosophic, Psychic
and Mixed. Each type of hand
has its own specifications.
Together with the consistency
and flexibility of the hand,
texture of the skin, the length
of each finger, its flexibility
with the development of the
seven mounts, the shape of
the hand is important in determining
one's character. Square hands,
for instance, where the palm
and the tips of the fingers
are square, usually represent
an orderly, punctual and precise
character. People with this
type of hand are disciplined
and tenacious, respect law
and order and achieve by great
application and force of character.
But they possess little originality.
It is important to see the
strength and the direction
of lines on the hands in conjunction
with the type of hand, as
these will determine the actions
and habits and significant
events in the life of a person
that will lead to success
in career, health, wealth,
love, marriage, children and
happiness |

WHAT IT ALL MEANS
The Mounts
The major Mounts are: Venus,
Jupiter, Saturn, the Sun,
Mercury, Mars and the Moon.
They are especially valuable
in determining the type to
which a subject belongs. |
Mount of Venus:
If well developed, represents
robust health, underdeveloped
shows poor health
|
Mount of Jupiter:
If well rounded, shows that
one is confident, if it covers
a wide area, it means you are
generous, if it is high it suggests
success in business.
|
Mount of Saturn:
A large mount indicates a gloomy
attitude.
|
Mount of the Sun:
A person with interest in the
arts will probably have a strongly
developed mount.
|
Mount of Mercury
If well developed, means a warm,
receptive nature, underdeveloped
means a loner.
|
Mount of the Moon
If well developed, indicates
psychic ability.
|
Mars Positive
Represents courage and fighting
spirit if it is well developed,
but if it is flat, means a cruel
streak.
|
| Plains of Mars
If over developed, means the
person has a temper, underdeveloped
shows that the person is shy. |
| |
| Mars Negative If
well developed, indicates staying
power and a good ability to
cope under pressure. |
| |
Life Line
The Life Line reveals the
quality of one's life, the
strength and energy that we
have and not - as is frequently
thought - how long you will
live. If the life line runs
close to the thumb, it shows
that the person has low vitality.
Perhaps a person with chronic
fatigue syndrome may have
this. A person with lots of
vitality will have a life
line which runs a wide curve.
If the head line is stronger
than the life line it indicates
a person who is more mentally
rather than physically active.
A chained life line indicates
delicate health while little
lines rising represent an
active personality. Branches
leading to the Mounts of Jupiter
and Saturn mean academic achievement
and successful property transactions,
respectively. A branch towards
the Mount of the Sun is a
sign of monetary gain whereas
a branch towards the Mount
of Mercury shows business
success. |
| |
Head line
Head lines can tell the way
a person thinks, but can't
tell the intelligence of a
person. The head line normally
ends under the ring finger.
If it starts under the index
finger, the person could have
a brilliant mind! Short and
long head lines are signs
of simple, straight-forward
thinking and careful thinking,
respectively. A straight head
line can normally be found
on a person with clear, focused
thinking. People who like
to play with new ideas will
have a curved head line, while
a sloped head line belongs
to creative people and a horizontal
head line belongs to people
who are practical. |
| |
Heart Line
A heart line that becomes
a steep curve below the index
and middle finger indicates
a person with strong sexual
desire. If the heart line
ends under the index finger,
it shows that the person is
choosy about their partner.
If it ends under the middle
finger, it shows that the
person tends to be dominated
by the need for love. People
with straight heart lines
which end on the Mount of
Jupiter, tend to make good
welfare workers. Two or more
branches on the heart line
indicate a corresponding number
of different sides to your
emotional nature. A heart
line with a strong branch
that reaches down and touches
the life line represents people
who fall in love easily. In
a successful marriage, a couple
tends to have similar heart
lines. |
| |
Fate Line
People who settle into a pattern
of life early tend to have
strong fate lines, whereas
people who are unsettled and
change their jobs often may
tend to have weak fate lines.
Most fate lines end at the
heart line. If it runs all
the way to the middle finger,
then the person tends to be
active right up into old age.
If the fate line is tied to
the heart line, it's an indication
of limited children. People
who pursue two careers at
the same time will have two
fate lines. The absence of
a fate line indicates a person
who lacks stability. This
can be found in the palms
of alcoholics and drug addicts.

| |
Apollo Line / Line Of the
Sun
This line is associated with
happiness, achievement and
creative talent, and doesn't
appear on everyone's palm.
Success tends to come to people
with Apollo Lines which start
high in the palm. If the line
is patchy, it's a sign that
success will be patchy too.
When the Apollo line is absent,
he/she will probably feel
that happiness is out of reach.
Several Apollo lines indicates
a person with many talents
but who is master of none.
